Virginia Dale Moore

February 18, 1926 — June 7, 2013

Virginia Dale Lusk Moore, resident of the Somerville Community and a native Fayette Countian departed this life Friday evening, June 7, 2013 at the National HealthCare Center in Somerville where she had been a resident for four years. She was 87 years of age and died following an extended illness.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Moore were conducted at 5 P.M. Monday, June 10th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. H.B. Fields, pastor of the Lafferty Circuit Methodist Churches in Fayette County officiating. Interment was on Wednesday, June 12th in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery at College Park, Georgia. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mrs. Moore was born February 18, 1926 in the Bethlehem/Hebron Communities of Fayette County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed Moore and Elizabeth Sims Moore. She received her education in the Fayette and Haywood County Public School Systems and was a graduate of the Brownsville High School. Mrs. Moore was a secretary for the International Harvester Corporation in Memphis for many years before her retirement.

She was first married to J.P. Lusk who preceded her in death and was later married to Billy Moore who also preceded her in death. Mrs. Moore was a lifelong Methodist and was a resident of the Atlanta, Georgia area for a number of years until the death of Mr. Moore. She returned to her native county four years ago and had been a resident of the National HealthCare Center during this time. She and her late husband, Billy Moore, were both employees of International Harvester and traveled extensively throughout the United States while representing the International Harvester Company. They retired in the Atlanta area.

Mrs. Moore will be remembered for her kind, gentle mannerisms and was a caregiver to others throughout her lifetime. She enjoyed special times with her family and in earlier years received much pleasure from her pet dogs.

Mrs. Moore’s survivors include her cousin and caregiver, Harold S. Pattat, Sr. (Lucille) of Somerville; her stepdaughter, Sharon Merryman (Larry) of Knoxville; and her stepson, Randy Moore (Jane) of Union City, TN.
