Virginia Fay Rogers Wells, age 75, resident of Oakland, departed this life Sunday morning, June 12, 2016 at the Regional One Health Hospital in Memphis.
A Celebration of Life Service for Ms. Wells was conducted at 3 P.M. Saturday, June 18, 2016 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. Interment was private. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.
Ms. Wells was born November 4, 1940 in Osceola, Arkansas. She was a graduate of Luxora High School in Arkansas and received her Associate’s Degree from Northeastern Arkansas Community College. She was employed as a machine operator in manufacturing facilities before her retirement. Ms. Wells was a lifelong resident of the Arkansas and Tennessee areas and attended the Oakland First Baptist Church. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed reading, sewing, baking and beading. Special times with her granddaughter and gardening were important to Ms. Wells.
Ms. Wells is survived by her daughter, Gina Wells Preddy and her husband, Robert, of Roanoke, Virginia; her son, Mark Wells and his fiancé, Michele, of Oakland; her sister, Dorothy Mitchell of Marmaduke, Arkansas; two brothers, I.L. Rogers of Donovan, Maine, Mac Arthur Rogers of St. Louis, Missouri; and her granddaughter, Alexis Wells of Oakland.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lee Rogers and Grace Beatrice Black Rogers; three sisters, Pauline Jeffries, Laverne Jeffries, Charlene Stallings; and two brothers, Charles Rogers and James Rogers.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the church, charity or organization of the donor’s choice.
