Virginia "Jinny" Rhea (Winfrey) Johnston

Virginia Rhea “Jinny” Winfrey Johnston, resident of the Somerville Community and wife of Robert E. “Bob” Johnston died at the Methodist Hospital in Germantown. She was 57 years of age and died unexpectedly of natural causes.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Johnston were conducted at 3 P.M., Sunday, January 13th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Father Stephen Kenny of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in Somerville officiating. Interment was private and arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center — West Chapel at Oakland.

Mrs. Johnston was born May 31, 1955 in Las Vegas, Nevada, the daughter of Fonda Williams Winfrey and the late John Allen Winfrey, Jr. She resided in various locations during her father’s military career and was married August 23, 1975 to Robert E. “Bob” Johnston, a retired U.S. Marine Corps Veteran who survives. Mr. Johnston currently serves as the Volunteer Veterans’ Service Officer for Fayette County.

After the retirement of Mr. Johnston, they moved to their family farm in Fayette County where they had resided since 1989. Mrs. Johnston was a Christian and a devoted homemaker who will be remembered for her love of life and her concern for family and friends.

In addition to her husband of 37 years, Mrs. Johnston is survived by her daughter, Heather Faye Johnston of Somerville; three sons, Robert Johnston, II (Sharon) of Somerville, Joseph Johnston (Kristina) of Somerville, Patrick Johnston (Janay) of Franklin, TN; her mother, Mrs. Fonda Winfrey of Portland, TN; two sisters, Fonda Hancock (Bud) of Tennessee Ridge, TN, Harriet Weaver (Tim) of Portland, TN; two brothers, John Allen Winfrey, III (Jen) of Bartlett, Mont Winfrey (Peri) of Rosemark, TN; and six much loved grandchildren.
