VIVIAN MORRIS SULTIS

July 19, 1921 — November 22, 2008

VIVIAN MORRIS SULTIS, resident of Vestavia Hills, Alabama, a native of Somerville and wife of the late James Sultis, died Saturday, November 22, 2008 at her residence in Vestavia Hills, a suburb of Birmingham, AL. She was 87 years of age and died following a brief illness.

Services for Mrs. Sultis were conducted on Monday, November 24th at the Mountain Brook Baptist Church where she was a devoted member. Graveside Funeral Services for Mrs. Sultis were held at 1 P.M. Tuesday, November 25th with her Pastor, Rev. Jim Moebes, officiating. Interment followed in the Somerville City Cemetery. Local arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-Main Chapel of Somerville.

A native of Fayette County, Mrs. Sultis was born July 19, 1921, the daughter of the late Samuel Lafayette Morris and the late Florence Lucille Chambers Morris. She was educated in the Fayette County Public School System and was married for 65 years to James Sultis, retired Executive for Bethlehem Steel before his death on September 8 of this year.

Mrs. Sultis was a former resident of Texas and Pennsylvania before moving to Birmingham, Alabama, in 1976.
She was instrumental in the formation of the Meals on Wheels Program in Bethlehem, PA, and later formed this same organization in Birmingham. Mrs. Sultis served as church hostess in Houston, TX and later served as church hostess and office employee of her beloved Mountain Brook Baptist Church for many years before her retirement.

Mrs. Sultis was a member of Vestavia Country Club where she enjoyed playing golf. She loved to play bridge with friends and was a devoted Christian throughout her life.

Mrs. Sultis is survived by her son Chris, wife Sharon and children Allison and Ashley; daughter Karen Sparks and children James and Kevin and great-granddaughter Chloe; sisters Audrey Glynn "Petsey" Bedwell of Somerville and Anne Carr of The Villages, FL and brothers Fate Morris, Jr. of Memphis and Carlton "Bubba" Morris of Somerville.

Those honored to serve as casketbearers were family members and friends.
