Vivian "Viv" Malcolm-Williams, resident of Adairville, Kentucky and former resident of the Somerville Community, departed this life Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at the TriStar Horizon Medical Center in Dickson, Tennessee. She was 60 years of age.
Services of Remembrance for Ms. Malcolm-Williams were held from 2 to 5 P.M. Tuesday, July 22nd at the St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in the Warren Community. A Private Interment will be held in Maryland. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – Main Chapel of Somerville.
Ms. Malcolm-Williams was born January 9, 1954 in Cumberland, Maryland, the first of five children to William Howard Malcolm and Rosalie Mary Favazza Malcolm. She moved with her family at an early age to Tennessee and received her education in the Holy Rosary Catholic (Elementary) School, Colonial Junior and Overton High School in East Memphis until relocating with her family to Somerville, where she lived most of her life. She was employed as a bookkeeper and associated at the True Value Hardware Store on the court square, formerly owned by the Malcolm Family.
She was united in marriage to Richard Lee Rose of Somerville and later, William Krauss Moody of Memphis. She continued her education by taking culinary courses at the Tennessee Technology Center in Whiteville and later Psychology Studies at Southwest Tennessee Community College.
As Owner and Cook at the former Rooster’s Convenience Store in Laconia to Operations Assistant at Red River Pig Farm in Adairville, Kentucky, her vocational interests were numerous. A dedicated and freelance bookkeeper for most of her life with a passion for education, her ten years as Teacher’s Aide at Fayette Ware Comprehensive High School and later Media Sales Representative for the former Fayette County Review newspaper also brought much gratification.
From nursing abilities, gardening and raising livestock to her exceptional cooking skills, her homemaking expertise rivaled her career interests. But none of her numerous talents could match the fervent love she held for her family and many friends. A wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she also took an active caretaking role for her aging parents, who preceded her in death along with a beloved brother, John William Malcolm. She was a Capricorn.
Ms. Malcolm-Williams is survived by two daughters, Marty White (Joe) of Somerville, Amanda Moody Thompson (Brian) of Adairville, Kentucky; her sister, Pamela Malcolm of Somerville; two brothers, Gerald Malcolm (Dixie) of Ponca City, Oklahoma, James Patrick Malcolm (Christa) of Edmond, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Autumn White, Summer White and Zachary White, all of Somerville, Landon Thomas, Brandon Thompson and Jordan Thompson, all of Adairville, Kentucky; her great-granddaughter, Lindsay Nichole Watson of Somerville; and various others including nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial fund has been established in her name at the Bank of Fayette County, 15995 U.S. Highway 64, Somerville, TN 38068.
