Walter Fred Furr, Jr., age 75, resident of the Stanton Community, retired from the lawn service industry and husband of the late Carolyn Furr, departed this life Tuesday afternoon, March 3, 2015 at his residence.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Furr were conducted at 1 P.M. Friday, March 6th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Artie Nute officiating. Interment followed in the Memphis Memory Gardens. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.
Mr. Furr was born January 24, 1940 in Memphis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Fred Furr, Sr. and Sarah Jackson Furr. He moved with his family at an early age to California and received his education at the California Baptist College in San Bernardino. He was married in 1968 to Carolyn Furr who preceded him in death in 2005. Mr. Furr was self-employed in the lawn service industry before retiring and was a resident of the Stanton Community for a number of years. He enjoyed woodworking horses and listening to gospel music, especially The Gaithers.
Mr. Furr is survived by two daughters, Angela Furr of Stanton, Amy Armstrong of Stanton; and his grandson, Jack Murray Armstrong of Stanton.
Casketbearers were family members and friends and the family requests that memorials be directed to the church, charity or organization of the donor's choice.
