Walter Whitman "Grumpy" Coker, age 66, resident of Oakland, Tennessee, departed this life Friday morning, June 15, 2018 at his residence.
A Memorial Service for Mr. Coker was held at 2 P.M. Monday, June 18, 2018 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. Interment was private. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.
Mr. Coker was born December 13, 1951 in Ripley, Tennessee. He was a graduate of Frayser High School in Shelby County and was self-employed as a mechanic and also worked for United Rentals. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps and enjoyed outdoor activities that included camping, fishing, waterskiing and special times with his granddaughters. Mr. Coker will be remembered for being a person that could “fix anything”.
Known to everyone as “Grumpy”, he leaves his daughter, Ashley Farber (David) of Oakland, TN; his son, Bryan Coker (Brandy) of Millington, TN; and two granddaughters, Sarah Farber and Madelynn Farber.
