Wanda Louella (Minor) Hurst

Wanda Louella Minor Hurst, age 79, resident of Somerville and wife of the late Joel L. Hurst, Sr., departed this life Thursday morning, January 5, 2017 at her residence.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Hurst were conducted at 1 P.M. Monday, January 9, 2017 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Dr. Kenneth Culver, pastor of the Warren Community Church in Somerville, officiating. Interment was private. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.

Mrs. Hurst was born December 5, 1937 in Tupelo, Mississippi. She attended Central High School in Memphis and was a lifelong resident of Middle and West Tennessee. She was employed as a shipping clerk for a printing company before her retirement. Mrs. Hurst was a member of the Warren Community Church and she enjoyed crocheting and gardening. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Mrs. Hurst is survived by her daughter, Teri Farris (David) of Somerville, TN; her son, Joel L. Hurst, Jr. (Cindy) of Memphis, TN; her sister, Sarah Kittelson of St. Charles, MO; two grandchildren, Samuel J. Hurst (Meseret) of Memphis, TN, Rebecca L. Farris of Somerville, TN; four great-grandchildren, Katlyn Hurst, Naomi Hurst, Natalie Hurst, Noah Hurst; and her close family friends, Heather Warf and Lloyd Allen Warf.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joel L. Hurst, Sr.; her parents, Rodolphus Minor and Tula Pate Minor; and her brother, Robert M. Minor.
