Wanda Louise (Redfearn) Parks

November 8, 1931 — April 21, 2012

Wanda Redfearn Parks, 80, longtime resident of the District 15 Community in Fayette County, retired Department Manager for the Salant and Salant Co. in Somerville and the wife of the late Wilburn “Judge” Parks, Jr. died April 21, 2012.

“Miss Wanda” was active for many years in her community and local church activities. A Homecoming Celebration for Mrs. Parks was held at 12:30 PM Saturday at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with interment in the Parks Chapel Cemetery.

A devoted member of the Parks Chapel Methodist Church, Mrs. Parks served as pianist for the church for many years. She will be remembered as an accomplished seamstress and was a longtime member of the Somerville Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star where she served as a Worthy Matron in earlier years. Mrs. Parks enjoyed genealogy research for the Parks, Redfearn and Hollida families of Fayette County. Her District 15 residence is a part of the Parks Family land grant farm. This farm has been owned continuously by the Parks family since 1824.

Mrs. Parks is survived by her son, Hugh Harold “Hank” Parks and daughter-in-law, Angeline H. Parks of Memphis; her brother, Harold Malone Redfearn of Cordova; and 4 grandchildren, William, Andrew, Michael and Elizabeth Parks.

Mrs. Parks was preceded in death by her older brother, John Earle Redfearn, Jr.
