Wanda Faye McCarty Coward, age 78, resident of Kaufman, Texas, departed this life Saturday evening, August 4, 2018 at the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Kaufman.
Funeral Services for Ms. Coward will be conducted at 12 P.M. Thursday, August 9, 2018 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. Billy Ray Burch, a Baptist minister and member of First Baptist Church in Dresden, Tennessee, officiating. Interment will follow in the Ebenezer Cemetery at Williston. A visitation for Ms. Coward will be from 11 A.M. to 12 P.M. Thursday, August 9, 2018 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville.
Ms. Coward was born February 20, 1940 in Knox County, Tennessee. She received her education at Union University in Jackson, Tennessee and was a homemaker throughout her life. She was a resident of Belvedere, Illinois for many years before moving to Texas in 1982. Ms. Coward enjoyed playing the piano, coloring and special times with her family. She received much pleasure in selling and interacting with the public and could be seen many times set up at flea markets.
Ms. Coward is survived by four daughters, Teresa Burden of Martin, TN, Melesa Eldridge (Anthony) of Kaufman, TX, Stacy Coward Nelson of Knoxville, TN, Celena Coward Miller of Knoxville, TN; her son, Scott Burch of Dresden, TN; eleven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Porter Hood McCarty and Anna Lee Roemines McCarty and five brothers, Don, Junior, Olan, Ralph and Roy.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Josh Fortner, Anthony Eldridge and James Burden.
