Wayne Franklin Bell

March 30, 1934 — September 28, 2011

Wayne Franklin Bell, resident of the Moscow Community, retired employee of Memphis Light, Gas & Water Department, Horse Trainer and husband of Sharon L. Bell, died peacefully Wednesday morning, September 28, 2011 at the Methodist LeBonheur Hospital in Germantown where he had been a patient for three days. He was 77 years of age and died following an extended illness.
A Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Bell will be at 2 P.M. Monday, October 3rd
at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. Billy Adair of Moscow officiating. Interment is private and arrangements are provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mr. Bell was born March 30, 1934 in Martin, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd Bell and Mammie L. Wagster Bell. He was educated in the Memphis City School System and served in the United States Army as a young person. Mr. Bell was married May 19, 1984 to the former Sharon Lee Griffin, who survives. He was a longtime employee of the Memphis Light, Gas & Water Department before his retirement seven years ago. Mr. Bell had been a resident of the Moscow Community for 26 years, where he owned and operated the Flying B Ranch.
He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed horses and outdoor activities throughout his life. He served as an American Quarter Horse Association Judge and his passion was working with and training horses. A person known for his humor who enjoyed sharing jokes and humorous stories with others, Mr. Bell’s interests included traveling, RV camping, fishing and hunting. Special times included his annual barbecue events and fellowshipping with family and friends.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Bell is survived by five daughters, Benita Lynn Gragg of Sarah, MS, Linda Ann Heathcock of Drummonds, TN, Tina Collins of West Chester, PA, Christi Stanley of Flint, TX, Lisa Hanes of Flint, TX; his son, Larry Wayne Bell of Jacksonville, AR; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.
The family requests that memorials be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
