Norman Wayne Garsoe, resident of Panama City Beach, Florida, former resident of the Somerville Community, United States Marine Corps Veteran and retired millwright died Friday afternoon, May 18, 2012 at his residence. He was 61 years of age and died unexpectedly of natural causes.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Garsoe were conducted at 11 A.M. Wednesday, May 23rd at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Rodney Van Winkle of the Faith Church of God in Somerville officiating. He was assisted by Bro. Shane Porter. Interment with Military Honors by the Fayette County Marine Corps League followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — West Chapel of Oakland.
Mr. Garsoe was born February 28, 1951 in Memphis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman Dexter Garsoe and Billie Jean James Garsoe. He received his education in the Memphis City School System and lived in the Fayette County area until he moved to Panama City Beach, Florida seven years ago.
He served his country as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps from 1969 to 1973. Mr. Garsoe enjoyed fishing, watching movies and playing video games.
Mr. Garsoe is survived by two sisters, Barbara Porter (Billy) of Laconia, Marie Clark (J.J.) of Knoxville, TN; two nephews, Justin Clark, Matt Clark (Shanna); his niece, Jessica Porter; and great niece, Dezma Clark.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Bill Porter, J.J. Clark, Dwight Porter, Shane Porter, Curtis Livingston and Gerry Manuel.
