Thomas Wayne Smith, age 68, resident of Bartlett and husband of Betty Jo Price Smith, departed this life Saturday morning, January 28, 2017 at his residence.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Smith were conducted at 1 P.M. Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at the Bethany Christian Church in Eads with Pastor Furniss Harkness, pastor of the church, officiating. Interment followed in the Bethany Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mr. Smith was born September 3, 1948 in the Memphis area of Shelby County, the son of the late Jack and Lillie Frances Adams Smith. He received his education at Trezevant High School and was married March 2, 1968 to the former Betty Jo Price. Mr. Smith was a commercial painter for many years before his retirement. He was a lifelong resident of the Shelby County area, was of the Christian faith and attended Bethany Christian Church in Eads. He enjoyed outdoor activities that included yardwork and fishing. His passion in life was riding motorcycles.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 48 years, Betty Jo Price Smith of Bartlett, TN; his daughter, Jackie Lynn Grace of Cordova, TN; his son, Gerald Wayne Smith of Cordova, TN; his sister, Annette Webb of Red Banks, MS; two grandsons, Landon Wayne Foster, Aidan Wayne Smith; and his great-granddaughter, Georgia Grace Foster.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Terry Grove, Jeff Wyatt, Landon Foster, Ricky Nelson, Gary Box and Sean Bonner.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the Bethany Christian Church, 421 Bethany Road, Eads, TN 38028.
