WILLIE CHARLES "BUTCH" WELLS, a resident of the Saulsbury Community in Hardeman County and former resident of Arlington died Friday afternoon, January 15, 2010 at the Bolivar General Hospital in Bolivar, Tennessee. He was 57 years of age and died following a brief illness.
Funeral services for Mr. Wells were conducted at 3 P.M. Monday, January 18th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. Loyd Shelton, Baptist Minister of Rossville, officiating. Interment with Military Honors followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64 near Oakland. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mr. Wells was born in Marks, Mississippi on November 24, 1952 the son of Beatrice Michael Wells and the late Theodore Kimble Wells.
He was educated in the Shelby County Public School System and was a resident of the Arlington area before moving to the lake areas of Hardeman County ten years ago.
He served in the United States Navy as a young person and was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Wells was preceded in death by his wife and was a self-employed Air-Conditioning and Heating Technician for over thirty-five years before his retirement.
He enjoyed the outdoors and favorite pastimes included fishing and spectator football.
He is survived by his son, Shane Bowan of Rosemark, TN; his mother, Hazel Beatrice Wells of the Saulsbury Community; his sister, Diane Tamboli Sciara of Saulsbury; two brothers, Neil Oswalt of Pickwick and James Wells of Saulsbury.
He was preceded in death by a brother; Jimmy Wells.
Those honored to serve as casket bearers were family members and friends.
