Wilbur Whittemore, Sr.

Wilbur Whittemore, Sr., resident of Somerville, Tennessee and husband of Alchie Woodard Whittemore, departed this life Thursday evening, August 30, 2018 at the National Healthcare Center.

Services of Remembrance for Mr. Whittemore were conducted at 1 P.M. Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at Harmony Baptist Church in Whiteville, Tennessee with Thomas Martin officiating. Interment followed in the Harmony Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center Main Chapel.

Mr. Whittemore was born July 17, 1934 in Haywood County. He attended Haywood County Schools and moved to Fayette County in 1960. Mr. Whittemore was the owner of Whittemore Plumbing Services before his retirement in 2003.

Mr. Whittemore leaves to cherish his memory his wife who he married January 11, 1967, Alchie Louise Woodard of Somerville, TN; four daughters, Shelia Martin Alford (Danny) of Medina, TN, Deborah Warren of Whiteville, TN, Rita Chan of Memphis, TN, Gail Hartman (Frank) of Oakland, TN; his son, Wilbur Whittemore Jr. (Gloria) of Somerville, TN; ten grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis Landers Whittemore and Etta Sue Watson Whittemore; his daughter, Katherine “Kat Kat” Whittemore and two sons, Wilburn Patrick Whittemore and Michael Lewis Whittemore.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Silas Bert Martin, Thomas Whittemore, Jamie Warren, Richard Chan, Chris Whittemore, Aaron Adams and Edward Eddie Watson.
