Wilburn Eugene “Bill” Walls, former resident of Somerville and husband of Eurice Ferguson Walls died Friday morning, October 28, 2011 at Kennington Pointe Retirement Center in Memphis where he resided for seven months. He was 91 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Walls were conducted at 2 P.M. Sunday, October 30th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Rev. Robert McConnell, minister of Southwind Church of Christ officiating. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — West Chapel of Oakland.
Mr. Walls was born April 9, 1920 in the Randolph Community, Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert L. Walls and Adalee Todd Walls. He was educated in the Pontotoc County, Mississippi Public School System.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Walls is survived by his daughter, Debbie Jones (Clay) of York, S.C.; his son, Michael E. Walls (Sherry) of Collierville; two sisters, Nona Taylor of Somerville, Brydette Pettit (Leon) of Randolph, MS; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Mr. Walls was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Walls McClain.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were family members and friends.
