William Thomas Fowler

September 15, 1925 — November 19, 2010

William Thomas "Tommy" Fowler, lifelong resident of the Somerville Community, retired Farmer, Owner of Fowler Gin and Construction Company and United States Veteran died Friday evening November 19, 2010 at the National HealthCare Center in Somerville where he had been a resident since July 2nd. He was 85 years of age and died following an illness of several months.

Funeral services for Mr. Fowler were conducted at 3 P.M. Sunday, November 21, 2010 at the First Presbyterian Church of Somerville with Rev. J. Michael Krech, pastor of the Church, officiating. Interment with Military recognition followed in the Somerville City Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes—Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mr. Fowler was born in Memphis, Tennessee on September 15, 1925. He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgene Day Fowler, his parents, Frederick Thomas Fowler and Willie Pearl Fowler and his sister, Zeni Fowler. Mr. Fowler received his education in the Fayette County Public School System and the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He served in the United States Army during the WWII period and was a lifelong resident of Fayette County. He was a longtime member of the Somerville Presbyterian Church and will be remembered for his love of the land and his Fayette County heritage.

Mr. Fowler is survived by his wife, Marjorie Fowler, his daughters, Choppy Thompson (John) of Franklin, TN, Georgette Turner (Bob) of Somerville, Allien Dacus (Charles) of Somerville, his brother, David Fowler (Irma) of Somerville, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Chad Dacus, Andy Fowler, Dave Fowler, Jr., Michael Fowler, Kurt Herzke and Dee Thompson. Honorary pallbearers were Daniel Bailey, Frank Boswell, Thomas Howell Fowler,Charles Harvey, Dr. Sam E. McFadden and Col. Will Rhea Winfrey.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Somerville First Presbyterian Church, 12940 S. Main Street, Somerville, TN 38068.
