William Layton German, age 70, resident of Brighton, Tennessee and husband of Linda Nix German, departed this life Friday, September 22, 2017 at his residence.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. German were conducted at 1 P.M. Monday, September 25, 2017 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Dr. Freeman Weems and Bro. Nathanael Taylor officiating. Interment followed at Hood Cemetery in the Warren Community. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.
Mr. German, the son of James and Paralee German, was born May 23, 1947 in Longtown, Tennessee. He received his education in the Fayette County School System. He served his country in the Army and was a member of First Baptist Church in Atoka, Tennessee. Mr. German loved to work with his hands, loved his “tractor” and was a devoted family man and friend. His wife was the apple of his eye.
Mr. German is survived by his wife of almost fifty years, Linda Nix German of Brighton, TN; two sons, Tony German of Brighton, TN, Kevin German of Somerville, TN; three sisters, Helen Ammons of Oakland, TN, Jean Thompson of Somerville, TN, Laura Stevens of Luxora, AR; and two grandchildren, Brooklyn German and Ashton (Anthony) German Lehman.
He was preceded by his parents James and Paralee German; three sisters, Louise Hyder, Thelma Davis, and Martha New; and five brothers, Glen German, Earl German, James German, Newsum German and Charlie German.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Rusty Perry, Dillon Nix, Anthony Lehman, Jerry Skelton, Tommy May, Bobby May, Brett Kruzan and Terry Kirby.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the American Cancer Society.
