WILLIAM TRAVIS HOWELL

December 17, 1950 — September 13, 2009

WILLIAM TRAVIS (BILL) HOWELL, a resident of the Terra Alta Lakes Community in Fayette County and husband of Linda Johnson Howell died Sunday morning, September 13, 2009 at his residence. He was 58 years of age and died following a brief illness.

A Service of Remembrance for Mr. Howell was conducted at 10 A.M. Saturday, September 19th at the family residence. Remarks and reflections were given by family members and friends. Interment was private and arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mr. Howell was born December 17, 1950 in Selmer, Tennessee the son of Dorothy Mae Bryant Howell and the late Paul B. Howell.

He moved at an early age to Hardeman County with his family, attended Bolivar area Schools and was a graduate of the Bolivar High School, Class of 1968.

He was married February 27, 1971 to the former Linda Joan Johnson, a native of Hardeman County, who survives.

Mr. Howell was a resident of the Bolivar Community for much of his life. He was a former resident of Glendora, California for a number of years and had been a resident of the Terra Alta Lakes Community in Fayette County since 1995.

At the time of his death, he was employed as a Shift Foreman for the Alliance Corporation in Memphis.

He was of the Christian faith and will be remembered by his family and friends for his passion for motorcycles, NASCAR activities and sports.

In addition to his wife of 38 years, Mr. Howell is survived by two daughters, Christina Casteel (Jason) of Dallas, GA and Angela Cottingham (Matthew) of Celeste, TX; his son, Michael Howell of La Verne, CA; his mother, Dorothy Mae Bryant Howell of Bolivar; three sisters: Sandra Florek of Channahon, IL; Carol Cummins of Corinth, MS and Brenda Sisco of Middleton, TN; five brothers: Richard Howell of Atoka, TN; Frank Howell and Terry Howell, both of Collierville; Jeff Howell of Southaven and Bobby Howell of Bolivar and eight grandchildren.
