William "Billy" Kinney Smithson
December 29, 1942 — November 30, 2017
William Kinney “Billy” Smithson, age 74, resident of Memphis, Tennessee and husband of the late Brenda Sue Smithson, departed this life Thursday afternoon, November 30, 2017 at his residence.
Services for Mr. Smithson will be held by the family at a later date. Interment will be in the Memphis Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements will be provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.
Mr. Smithson was born December 29, 1942 in Memphis, Tennessee. He received his education in the Shelby County School System and was employed as a railroad engineer for a number of years before his retirement. He was a member of the Hickory Withe First Baptist Church and enjoyed special times with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Mr. Smithson is survived by two daughters, Deidre Smith (Adam “Tracy”) of Tiplersville, MS, Debbie Omedeo (Joe) of Collierville, TN; his sister, Helen Tucker (Richard) of Horn Lake, MS; two brothers, Sidney Smithson of Georgetown, TX, Steve Michalchuk (Barbara) of Memphis, TN; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Frances Nadine Michalchuk and his son, Ken Smithson.
