William Earl Duncan, Sr., age 61, resident of the Somerville Community and husband of Wilma L. Duncan, departed this life Friday morning, November 14, 2014 at his residence.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Duncan were conducted at 2 P.M. Monday, November 17th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. David Reeves, pastor of the Midway Baptist Church in Whiteville, officiating. Interment followed in the Hood Cemetery in the Warren Community. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.
Mr. Duncan was born August 20, 1953 in Brownsville, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents, George O'Dell Duncan and Lorene Davis Duncan. He received his education in the Haywood County Public School System and was married July 1, 1973 to the former Wilma Leola Thompson, who survives.
Mr. Duncan was of the Baptist faith and a resident of Haywood and Fayette Counties for much of his life. He was employed as a truck operator for a number of years before his retirement. He enjoyed fishing and served as a mechanic and electrician for many in the community.
In addition to his wife of 41 years, Mr. Duncan is survived by his daughter, Denise Voyles (David) of Somerville; two sons, William E. Duncan, Jr. (Dana) of Somerville, James Henry Duncan (Aisha) of Somerville; his sister, Martha Henry of Somerville; his brother, Jimmy Duncan (Jan) of Collierville; and two grandchildren, Jessica Voyles of Somerville and Matthew Voyles of Somerville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, George Duncan.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Shane Burch, Jason Bobbitt, Chester Pulliam, Charles Ferge, Troy Simpson and Tony Duncan.
Honorary casketbearers were Sam Thrasher, Doug Sills and Andrew Heck.
