William Edward Johnston, age 72, resident of Rossville, Tennessee and husband of Melanie Morton Johnston, departed this life Tuesday afternoon, July 30, 2019 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Collierville.
Funeral Services for Mr. Johnston will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at 1 P.M. at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Eddie Martin officiating. A visitation for Mr. Johnston will be from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at Peebles West Funeral Chapel. Interment with Military Honors will follow at New Bethel Cemetery in Rossville, Tennessee. Arrangements will be provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.
Edward was born November 12, 1946 in Moscow, Tennessee, the son of the late Harvey Frank Johnston and Helen Wiley Johnston. He was a graduate of Collierville High School and served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was married January 7, 1977 to the former Melanie Morton and was of the Baptist faith. Edward was employed in the steel construction business for many years and enjoyed fishing, cooking, watching University of Tennessee football and special times with his family and friends.
Mr. Johnston is survived by his wife of 42 years, Melanie Morton Johnston of Rossville, TN; his sister, Charlotte Thomas of Collierville, TN; his goddaughter and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Frances Morrow, Lavern Parks, Lois Yearwood; and two brothers, Earl Johnston and Tommy Johnston.
