William J. “Pedie” Cofer, age 65, resident of Oakland, Tennessee and husband of Brenda McMahan Cofer, departed this life Saturday morning, December 10, 2022 at his home.
Pedie was born June 18, 1957 in Selmer, Tennessee, the son of Bonnie Lawson Cofer Burnette and the late John William Cofer. He graduated from Middleton High School in Middleton, Tennessee. Pedie was the owner of Assist2Sell Realty for six years and Oakland BP for twelve years before retiring to play golf. He worked at Glasteel and AOC for 17 years.
Mr. Cofer is survived by his wife of 40 years, Brenda Cofer; two daughters, Angie Watson (Jason) and Amy Yopp (Josh); two sons, Brian Cofer and Adam Cofer (Shelby); his mother, Bonnie Cofer Burnette; two sisters, Johnnie Marie Merriman and Teresa Busby; his brother, Melvin Cofer; and six grandchildren, Abby Yopp, Cayla Watson, Eli Yopp, Colton Watson, Aiden Cofer and Noah Watson. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Drexel Cofer and stepfather, Billy Joe Burnette.
Funeral Services for Mr. Cofer were held at 12 noon Thursday, December 15, 2022 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. The officiating minister was Bro. Jack Moore. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Frank Chambers, Jacob Jenkins, Joshua Beavers, Troy Foust, David McMahan and Teddy McMahan.
