William Leo "Bill" Hagan, Jr.

William Leo "Bill" Hagan, Jr., age 78, resident of Somerville, Tennessee, passed away November 2, 2015, surrounded by his family. Bill was born April 23, 1937 in New Haven Kentucky to William Leo Hagan and Mary Margaret Shean Hagan. He was married October 21, 1961 to Mary Ann Landewee.

"Big Bill", as he was affectionately referred to by his family and friends, was blessed to have lived life to the fullest until his stroke on October 18, 2015. He will always be remembered for his love of family and friends, his strong Christian faith, his kind caring spirit and his neverending positive attitude. Throughout the years, Bill made a positive impact on the lives of many through his 23 years as the owner of the Big B Family Restaurant, his many years serving as the Chief of the volunteer fire department and his numerous roles as an active civic leader in his beloved hometown of Chaffee, Missouri, where he lived the majority of his life.

Bill graduated from Chaffee High School in 1955, whereupon, he enlisted in the United States Navy. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Southeast Missouri to become a barber and was working at College Barber Shop in Cape Girardeau, Missouri where he met and married Mary Ann, his wife of 54 years. They then moved back to Chaffee, Missouri so that Bill could take over Hagan's Barber Shop. In 1977, Bill and Mary Ann built and operated Big B Family Restaurant for 23 years. Upon closing the Big B, Bill worked with Riceland foods before moving to Somerville. Bill was a longtime member of St. Ambrose Catholic Parish in Chaffee, Missouri.

In 2008, Bill and Mary Ann moved to Somerville, Tennessee to be close to their children and grandchildren. Bill was a devoted parishioner of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in Somerville, Tennessee. He was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #14482 and the Memphis Bee Keepers Association.

Bill is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; his son, William L. Hagan, III (Elizabeth) and their children, Mary Elizabeth, William IV and Preston; and his daughter, Lisa Stagoski (Andrew) and their children, Sarah Grace and Joseph, all of Germantown, Tennessee. He is also survived by two sisters, Mary M. Hagan Harrell of Ballwin, Missouri and Pauline Latuda of Maryland Heights, Missouri. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by two infant sons, Joseph and Douglas and his sister, Louise Kaatmann.

The Funeral Mass with Military Honors was held at 11 A.M. Thursday, November 5, 2015 at the St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in Somerville, celebrated by Father Stephen Kenny and assisted by Deacon John Drake.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Joseph Stagoski, William Hagan IV, Frank Latuda, Jr., David Drake, David Landewee, Randy Wolfenkoehler, Warren Wolfenkoehler and David Kaatmann.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to the St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church "Footsteps to the Future", 11710 U.S. Highway 64, Somerville, TN 38068 or to the St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 419 South Third Street, Chaffee, MO 63740.
