WILLIAM TERRY JOHNSON, resident of the Collierville Community, longtime Troxel Manufacturing Company Employee and husband of Stephanie Leatherwood Johnson died at 12:15 A.M. Sunday, May 10, 2009 at his residence in Collierville. He was 57 years of age and died following a six-month illness.
Funeral services for Mr. Johnson were conducted at 2 P.M. Wednesday, May 13th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Rev. Thomas Foy, Pastor of the Piperton Baptist Church, officiating. Personal remarks were given by Bob Yancey. Interment followed in the Eads Cemetery at Eads, Tennessee. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-West Chapel of Oakland.
Mr. Johnson was born January 8, 1952 in Somerville, the son of the late James Walter Johnson and the late Willie Beatrice Butler Johnson. He was a graduate of the Collierville High School, Class of 1970 and was employed in the Tool & Die Management Division of the Troxel Manufacturing Company in Moscow for twenty-six years until his recent illness.
He was of the Baptist faith and had been a resident of the Fayette and Shelby County areas throughout his life.
He was married May 28, 1993 to the former Stephanie Leatherwood of Moscow, employee of the Carrier Corporation in Collierville, who survives.
A loving father and husband, Mr. Johnson will be remembered as an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed nature, hunting and fishing.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Johnson is survived by his daughter, Corry Lothridge of Spring Hill, FL; two sons, Dusty Johnson (Niki) of Piperton and Jackie Miller (Lindsay) of Walnut, MS; four brothers: Jimmy Johnson (Phyllis) of Collierville, Benny Johnson (Delores) of Rossville, Ronnie Johnson (Pam) of Collierville and Greg Johnson (Tina) of Eads and five grandchildren: C. J. Lothridge, Tyler Lothridge, Colby Rasmussen, Addie Miller and Ellie Johnson.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Darlene Johnson and Judy Pattat.
Those honored to serve as casket bearers were Ashley Johnson, Bradley Johnson, Mike Harrison, Karl Johnson, David Johnson, John Leatherwood, Roy Owens and Wendell Crook.
Honorary casket bearers were Cody Harrison, Bobby Crook, Jay Minor and Cletus Crook.
