William "Woody" Woelfle, age 73, resident of the Braden Community, retired employee of Delta-Aurora Casket Company in Memphis and husband of Joyce King Woelfle, departed this life Friday morning, January 23, 2015 at his residence.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Woelfle were conducted at 2 P.M. Monday, January 26th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Bob Williams, pastor of the Stanton Baptist Church, officiating. Interment followed in the Walls Cemetery in the Braden Community. Arrangements will be provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.
Mr. Woelfle was born January 29, 1941 in Memphis. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Thomas Woelfle and Minnie Mabel Batts Woelfle. He received his education in the Shelby County Public School System and was a graduate of Humes High School Class of 1959. He was married June 14, 1963 to the former Joyce King, who survives.
Mr. Woelfle was employed for the Delta-Aurora Casket Company for many years before his retirement. He was a member of Stanton Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He enjoyed horses, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, working in his wood shop and had a special love for his family and church.
In addition to his wife of 51 years, Mr. Woelfle is survived by his daughter, Patty Ann Woelfle of Braden; his son, Woody Woelfle (Karen) of Drummonds; his sister, Charlotte Palmer (Frank) of McRae, AR; and two grandchildren, Edie Allison Woelfle of Atlanta, GA and Thomas William Woelfle of Drummonds.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Jimmy Farris, Kevin King, Cameron King, Larry King, Frank Palmer and Don Revelee.
