WILLIE FRANK DAVIS

September 26, 1936 — October 10, 2009

WILLIE FRANK DAVIS, resident of Bolivar, Tennessee, former resident of Somerville, retired School Bus Driver for the Fayette and Hardeman County School Systems and husband of Georgia Davis died at 7:20 P.M. Saturday, October 10, 2009 at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee where he had been a patient for four weeks. He was 73 years of age and died following an extended illness.

Funeral services for Mr. Davis were conducted at 11 A.M. Tuesday, October 13th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. Charles Vandiver, Pastor of the Pinson Church of God in Pinson, Tennessee, officiating. Special remarks were provided by Sister Lucille Vandiver. Interment followed in the Dancyville United Methodist Church Cemetery at Dancyville, Tennessee. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mr. Davis was born September 26, 1936 in the Dancyville Community. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles E. Davis and Mattie Kizer Davis.

He was educated in the Fayette County Public School System and was married July 5, 1972 to the former Georgia Wray of Jackson, Tennessee who survives.

Mr. and Mrs. Davis were residents of Fayette County for a number of years before moving to Bolivar fifteen years ago.

He was a farmer for much of his life and also served as a Bus Driver for the Fayette and Hardeman County Public School Systems for a number of years before his retirement.

He was a devoted member of the Pinson Church of God and a lifelong resident of the Bolivar, Somerville and Dancyville Communities.

Mr. Davis will be remembered for his quiet mannerisms and his kindness to others.

Vegetable gardening and hunting and fishing were favorite pastimes as long as health permitted.

In addition to his wife of thirty-seven years, Mr. Davis is survived by his sister, Mildred Moore of Michigan City, MS and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Those honored to serve as casket bearers were George Duncan, Tony Duncan, Steve Hayes, Timmy Wright, Justin Rhodes and David Moore.

Honorary casket bearers were Jimmy Duncan, Earl Duncan and Larry Burns.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Pinson Church of God.
