Willie Wroth Perkins, Jr.

May 30, 1929 — February 27, 2013

Willie Wroth Perkins, Jr., resident of the Huron Community near Lexington, Tennessee, former resident of Fayette County and husband of Jim Ann Perkins departed this life Wednesday afternoon, February 27, 2013 at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. He was 83 years of age and died unexpectedly of natural causes.

Services of Remembrance for Mr. Perkins were conducted at 1 P.M. Friday, March 1st at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Dr. Marty Comer of the Sand Ridge Baptist Church in Lexington officiating. He was assisted by Bro. Keith Runyon and Bro. Jack Moore. Interment followed in the Bethany Cemetery in the Fisherville Community. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center — West Chapel at Oakland.

Mr. Perkins was born May 30, 1929 in Memphis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Wroth Perkins, Sr. and Ada Florence Callicutt Perkins. He received his education in the Tennessee Public School System and was married November 24, 1948 to the former Jim Ann McKinnie, who survives.

A person involved in agriculture for over 65 years, Mr. Perkins had a lifelong love for farming and outdoor activities. He was a former resident of the Eads and Fisherville Community areas for 36 years and had been residents of the Huron Community for the past 13 years. In earlier years, Mr. and Mrs. Perkins enjoyed a labor of love in restoring the historic Mebane-Nuckolls home located in the Macon Community of Fayette County. The home is one of the oldest structures in Fayette County built during the years of 1848 and 1860. The family enjoyed living in the home and sharing this historical residence with others by providing a place for private gatherings and community activities.

Mr. Perkins was a Christian and a member of the Sand Ridge Baptist Church at Lexington at the time of his death. He was devoted to his family and will be remembered for his love of horses and all types of sporting activities that included football and coaching.

In addition to his wife of 64 years, Mr. Perkins is survived by his daughter, Terry Lynn Beshires (Albert Lewis) of Huron, TN; two sons, Steven David Perkins (Deboroh Adams) of Somerville, James Wroth Perkins (Wilda Eddelman) of Beech Bluff, TN; his brother, Larry Vann Perkins (Betty) of the Rossville Community; nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Jamie Perkins, Justin Perkins, Tanner Perkins, Douglass Swett, Stephen Goodin, Michael Sparks, Blake Weinburg and Joel Evans.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Sand Ridge Baptist Church, 7535 U.S. Highway 412, Lexington, TN 38351.
