WINNIE FAYE EMERSON

July 29, 1935 — January 8, 2009

WINNIE FAYE EMERSON, a resident of Somerville, native of Fayette County and retired United States Government Employee died at 4:50 A.M. Thursday, January 8, 2009 at the National Healthcare Center in Somerville where she had been a resident for several months. She was 73 years of age and died following an extended illness.

Funeral services for Miss Emerson were conducted at the Graveside at 3 P.M. Saturday, January 10th with Rev. Freddie Clifft, Pastor of the Shady Grove Baptist Church in Somerville, officiating. Interment followed in the Somerville City Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-Main Chapel of Somerville.

Miss Emerson was born July 29 1935 in Somerville the daughter of the late John Hamilton Emerson and the late Lora Carnathan Emerson. She received her education in the Somerville Public School System and graduated from the Memphis Technical High School in Memphis. She completed her education at the University of Tennessee X-Ray School and the Memphis School of Business.

Miss Emerson was a Civil Service Employee of the United States Government for a number of years and was a member of the Baptist Church throughout her life. She resided in various locations of the United States during her employment with the government and after her retirement resided in Marion, Arkansas with her twin sister and brother-in-law who preceded her in death.

Miss Emerson was the last survivor of her immediate family and leaves a number of cousins and distant relatives that include her caregiver, Evelyn Doyle, of Somerville.

Casketbearers were family members and friends.
