W. MATT BROWN

WILLIAM MATTHEW (MATT) BROWN, Memphis Musician and son of Jim and Loretta Brown of Arlington died at 6:40 P.M. Monday, February 9, 2009 at his Memphis residence. He was 30 years of age and died unexpectedly.
A Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Brown was conducted at 4 P.M. Saturday, February 14th at Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Rev. Bob Matthews, Pastor of the Trafalgar Baptist Church in Memphis officiating. Special reflections were given by Matt's sister, Mary Brown of Memphis. A Private Family Interment will follow at a later date. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Home-West Chapel of Oakland.
Matt was born June 28, 1978 in Memphis the son of Loretta Mosiej Brown and James Wayne (Jim) Brown, associated with Porter Paints Store in Oakland. Matt received his education at Bolton High School, The Evangelical Christian School in Memphis and University of Memphis.
Matt was a lifelong resident of Memphis and was a self-employed Musician in the Memphis Music Circuit for twelve years, specializing in the bass guitar.
A stage performer during high school, at the University of Memphis and Theatre Memphis, he was a talented Actor and Performer for much of his life, receiving numerous awards and accolades for his acting and musical abilities including
the "Best Supporting Actor" award from the Memphis Art Council for his Theatre Memphis performance.
Of the Baptist faith, Matt enjoyed the friendships of many and held a special closeness to his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Matt is survived by his sister, Mary Brown of Memphis; his maternal grandparents, Nona Mosiej of New York City, NY and Tom Mosiej of Bartlett; his paternal grandmother, Sue Brown of Amory, MS; his maternal great-grandmother, Violet Regnier of New York City, NY; paternal great-grandmother, Maxine Brown of Greenwood Springs, MS; paternal great-grandfather, Billy McCullar of Oxford, MS and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
