Zane Wallace Witherspoon

Zane Wallace "Ikey" Witherspoon, age 84, resident of Eads and husband of the late Rachel June Woods Witherspoon, departed this life Thursday morning, July 28, 2016 at his residence.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Witherspoon were conducted at 1 P.M. Saturday, July 30, 2016 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Brother Eddie Little, pastor of Hickory Withe First Baptist Church, officiating. Speakers were Andria Freeman, Danielle Jones and Stefan Sanchez. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.
Mr. Witherspoon was born March 1, 1932 in Kenton, Tennessee. He received his education in the Gibson County Public School System and served his country in the United States Air Force. He was married for 58 years to Rachel June Woods Witherspoon and he was a journeyman electrician for over 45 years before his retirement. Mr. Witherspoon was a member of Hickory Withe First Baptist Church and enjoyed making furniture, automobiles, tinkering and loved people.
Mr. Witherspoon is survived by his daughter, Mary Beth Witherspoon Sanchez and her husband, Marcus, of Macon, Georgia; his son, Randel Nelson Witherspoon and his wife, Jennifer, of Eads, Tennessee; his brother, Charles “Charlie” Douglas Witherspoon and his wife, Junette, of Paducah, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Andria Carmen Sanchez Freeman and her husband, Geoffrey, Danielle Nichole Witherspoon Jones and her husband, Clayton, Stefan Gregory Kurt Sanchez, Benjamin Nathan Witherspoon, Audrey Elise Witherspoon; and two great grandchildren, Sage Isabella Freeman and Tate Grey Freeman.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel June Woods Witherspoon who died March 23, 2016; his parents, Claude Hardeman Witherspoon and Edith Mae Hickman Witherspoon; and two brothers, Eugene “Gene” Hardeman Witherspoon and Richard Dale Witherspoon.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Randy Witherspoon, Marcus Sanchez, Stefan Sanchez, Benjamin Witherspoon, Geoffrey Freeman and Clayton Jones.
