James Adam "Jimmy" Solley

July 15, 1945 — November 28, 2017

James Adam “Jimmy” Solley, age 72, lifetime resident of Fayette County and husband of Clara B. Solley, departed this life on November 28, 2017, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

Services of Remembrance for Mr. Solley were conducted at 11 A.M. Saturday, December 2, 2017 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville. Freddie Clifft and Bobby Bray were the officiants. Interment followed in the Friendship Cemetery at Moscow. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mr. Solley was born August 15, 1945 in Stanton, Tennessee.  As a young man, Mr. Solley farmed with his parents, and later worked in various jobs.  He most enjoyed working on the television show “In the Heat of the Night” where he painted movie sets for that television series. He enjoyed his gun collection, riding his four-wheeler, his horses, and yardwork.  He loved watching Monday Night Wrestling, eating with friends and family and talking about the “good ole days”.  Mr. Solley was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church and today is smiling down on us from Heaven.

Mr. Solley is survived by his wife, Clara Solley and his sister, Ruby Morris.  Mr. Solley had a number of favorite nieces and nephews, that included Brenda Marbury (Gene), Kenny Solley (Tina), Mike Solley (Brenda), David Solley (Anita), Roger Solley (Loretta), Carl Solley, Jamie Morris, Lynn Morris, Roy Laverne Morris, Carol Ann Anderson, Leonard Carraway (Cindy), Billy Jean Carroll (Rick), Bill Wilkerson (Bertha), and other great nieces and nephews. Mr. Solley had two stepchildren, Charles Johnson and Cynthia Brown.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Franklin Solley and Beatrice Ford McGee, his brother Walter Franklin Solley and two sisters, Bertha Viola Wilkerson and Martha Francis Carraway.

The family requests that memorials be directed to Shady Grove Baptist Church, 17885 Highway 76, Somerville, TN 38068.
